Neko's story... He was unfortunately was purchased from puppy mill owner/breeder: Kevin & Danielle Setterini (she's using a different name now of Nicole) of Right Puppy Kennel (among numerous other kennel names: Yadkin Wolf Den, Blustag Tamaskan (not the original Blustag from UK) from Salisbury, NC and died at 3-1/2 years old. PLEASE READ HIS STORY. *UPDATE 11/13/13 - KEVIN SETTERINI HAS THREATENED TO BURN MY HOUSE DOWN & COME AFTER MY FAMILY, IF I DO NOT REMOVE THIS SITE*.

DO NOT BUY ANY ANIMALS FROM THIS BREEDER, BUYER BEWARE!!!

We have created this website to help others avoid being scammed into purchasing a puppy or dog from Kevin & Danielle Nicole Settineri of Salisbury, North Carolina. They go by many names for their kennel & use different websites, they change them all the time to avoid bad reviews and to elude the public. When we purchased Neko, they were called "Right Puppy Kennel", now they go by the names of: BlugStag Tamaskan (a rip off site of the original founder in the UK & Yadkin Wolf Den (of Charlotte, NC) - websites listed are: www.Tamaskan.com; www.Blustagtamaskan.com; www.Yadkinwolfden.com; www.MyShiba.com and their puppies can also be found on the following free ad sites: www.puppyfind.com & www.pets4you.com - if you are unsure if they are from them, just check the address (Salisbury, NC or Kevin or Danielle Settineri, Nicole) in case they relocate/rename their site again. *Also check the age of the parents & ask to see veterinary certificates of health. They were arrested for forging them!

We decided to purchase "Neko", a Tamaskan Wolfdog, in May of 2009 from Kevin Settineri of Right Puppy Kennel located at: 2230 Old Union Road, Salisbury, NC. We were told he was a Tamaskan Wolfdog (some emails he said Tamaskan, some said Tamaskan Wolfdog, we never really knew for sure what Neko was 100%) & his parents were "Tasha" & "Tumble". Neko was born 4/2/09. We picked him up in person, as Kevin "LET US" pick him up at 6 weeks of age (no reputable breeder will let you do that - 8 weeks minimum)! His mother "Tasha" greeted us outside when we first drove in, she was skinny but friendly. Tamaskan, Shiba Inu's and Wolfdogs were housed in a filthy wet small garage area. There were numerous Shiba Inu's climbing the 6' cage walls trying to get out (he told me he had 40 in an email later). He said he was in the process of adding onto the property. Neko was in a small wet wire crate on the ground with his other 13 brothers/sisters. They were scared and all bunched up together. We were brought around the building to see the parents, we were shown a cage of "Tamaskans & Wolves" where one of them was "supposedly" Neko's father. this is when we first figured it was a puppy mill, because no reputable breeder would house this many dogs "temporarily" in this situation. But what could we do, we had already drove hours to get there. I asked for Neko's registration papers, pedigree, vaccinations and health certificate. The only thing we received was a customer pet record, showing he received his first vaccines & was dewormed, nothing signed from a veterinarian.

We proceeded to drive home the next day after spending a night in a hotel. Neko would not eat for the first 3 days (which is not too uncommon), but then he had uncontrollable diarehea for 3 straight months. We brought him to the vet numerous times trying to get rid of it. It was giardia (a bacteria caused by unsanitary conditions) and he had a weak stomach were you couldn't switch his food, w/o him getting it again. When we originally took Neko to the vet (10 days after we were home), he weighed only 6.04 lbs. at 7 weeks of age!Long story short, Neko developed severe epilepsy at almost 3 years of age (3/27/12), which is when it usually shows up. He developed them seemingly overnight (but with research, we now know that it was is his genetics all along, and Kevin never bothered to stop breeding the dogs with the problems). He suffered from monthly seizures that we tried to control with phenobarbital. We asked Kevin if he ever had seizures in his lines, he responded "only one customer had an issue with seizures in the past, I'm not sure what she did to treat them" (which is a lie I now know of many cases of epilepsy that was reported to him). He never asked how Neko was, never contacted me. But I always received his emails stating when new puppies were for sale, which was constant!Eventually we had to add potassium bromide to the phenobarbital to try to prevent the seizures, but it did not stop them. He had them like clockwork every month, almost to the day. On 2/18/13 through 2/19/13 - Neko suffered from over 20 seizures in one night, every time we thought he was going to pull out of it, they kept coming. Sadly, we had to make the decision to end his suffering on 2/20/13 due to the uncontrollable seizures.

The next time I ever heard from Kevin was on 4/27/13 when he called me out of the blue. He said he didn't know why I was "bashing him" on Facebook and why I didn't contact him directly. I told him that I did contact him a year earlier and he chose not to help us! He said he didn't know which one of the parents were the problem with the "epilepsy lines" and that there is no test for epilepsy. So he chose to do nothing! He did not remove either of the parents from his breeding program! He bred them every time they went into heat, time & time again. Which potentially creates more puppies with more problems for future customers. I found out by a vet tech who worked at one of the animal hospitals that Kevin used, he bred Neko's mother "Tasha" until she died on the table. She said he cares nothing about the animals, it is all about the money! "Every time he would bring one into the hospital you could smell then before even seeing them! He only brought them in when they were so deathly sick or needed a c-section. He brought in over 200 dogs (puppies) for health certificates from 2008-early 2012! I helped with Tasha's 2 c-sections. First one was 4/2/09 14 puppies (that was the 1 Neko was from). 2nd one was 12/29/10. Tasha came in completely laid out, she looked dead but I could hear her grunting & groaning. She was emancipated, weak, and pale. Kevin said he was not sure of her due date or how long she had been pushing! She had no milk and Dr. thought the puppies looked pre-mature. She was prepped for surgery & her condition was very critical. I remember 1 of our Dr's sayting to Kevin that they will spay her & he said NO I can get 1 more good litter out of her! The Dr. said her uterus looked like a used dishrag! Again 14 puppies. Shortly after surgery Tasha became very critical and died!! I was somewhat glad because this meant she could finally rest & never have to go home w/ this man ever again. Some of the puppies died shortly after delivery & Kevin came & got the rest, I remember him walking by Tasha's dead body that was still on the table & he did not even look her way. I guess she didn't matter anymore since she could no longer make him money. We asked him if he needed puppy formula & he said no I will just put them on another nursing bitch. A few days later he was in & we asked him about the puppies & he said they all died. He never got vaccines for his dogs or never had any x-rays done to check for hip displasia and the only testing he had done was Brucellosis test, sperm counts, and parvo test. Now for the good news, Karma has arrived!!

Kevin & his daughter Nicole finally were brought up on charges for falsifying documents to ship sick puppies to out-of-state customers. He was served with warrants for nine counts of felony charges for obtaining property by false pretenses. His daughter received five charges. They were accused of falsifying information on a certificate of health, which is required for shipping puppies. The kennel obtained a legitimate certificate of health exam for one dog & then altered it for several others. The incidents occurred between March 2011 & November 2012. Three veterinary hospitals - Mooresville Animal Hospital in Iredell County, Lenoir Veterinary Hospital in Caldwell County & Randall Veterinary Hospital in Mooresville were listed as places where the Salisbury kennel obtained the supposed health certificates. The falsified documents came to light when veterinarians in Lenoir & Mooresville received phone calls from out-of-state veterinarians questioning the health certificates of dogs from Right Puppy Kennel. Also, a customer in Illinois purchased what he thought was a husky mix from Right Puppy, the examining vet said he determined the animal to be a wolf hybrid which is illegal in Illinois. The allegations came to light when one of the dogs sold to a customer in Florida became sick, according to investigators, and there are certain parasitic diseases that are called "zoonotic" that can be shared between animals & humans. "what's wrong with these animals to falsify these documents or have falsified them, then you've got health risks w/ the animals & the humans that come into contact w/ these animals, you worry about that" Sheriff Auten added. The sheriff thinks more charges could be coming. Well Kevin got off the felony charges, I guess, because he has everyone in his pocket down there. His daughter Nicole only received probation for 1 year. How that many felony charges against them be reduced to just probation, the almighty $$$ I guess...

Obviously good breeders when they find out that there is a "genetic fault or disease" within their breeding stock, they remove that animal from breeding, period. They do not continue to breed the animals until they die! He does not do any health testing on any of his animals. Go to this site www.offa.org and type in any of his dogs names, they will not come up as being hip, elbow or patella tested for dysplasia, degenerative myelopathy, baer hearing tests like the other responsible Tamaskan breeders do & can be verified! He doesn't want to spend 1 cent on those dogs if he doesn't have to, because that takes away from all of his profits. If you notice on Yadkin Wolfden website, the mother of the current litter "Lupe", is only 1 year & 2 months old. Nobody in their right mind breeds dogs under two years old & have passed their genetic testing. This is just a huge monetary game for him, he doesn't care about people (you can also tell that by talking with him or his daughter, they are quick & to the point if they even give you a straight answer & they are always pushing for their deposit to suck you in!).Another clue to a puppy mill, "BUY IT NOW" LINKS YOU CAN PURCHASE THE PUPPY OVER THE INTERNET W/O EVEN TALKING TO THE BREEDER & SEEING THE PARENTS, PUPPY, ETC. HE DOES NOT CARE WHO BUYS HIS DOGS, HE CARES ONLY ABOUT THE MONEY!!! Responsible breeders will meet with folks before they even take deposits from them, if they feel they are good homes for their puppies, not site unseen! Also, look under his "questions" on the left - who lists all these problems with coccidia, brucellosis, distemper, parvovirus, roundworms, leptospirosis & heartworm unless he has questions about his dogs having it all the time. Neko had giardia - it is caused by becoming infected through ingesting or coming into contact with contaminated food, soil, or water. The Giardia parasite originates from contaminated items and surfaces that have been tainted by the feces of an infected animal.

If you go on Facebook, you can read on "Tamaskan Truth 2.0" all about Kevin and Right Puppy Kennel/BluStag, etc. whatever he wants to call himself. Read about all the genetic problems that he has created with his careless breeding practices and his lack of human and animal compassion. HE NEEDS TO BE SHUT DOWN FOR GOOD, HE NEEDS TO GO TO JAIL. THIS IS THE PURPOSE OF ALL THIS FIGHTING!! THIS IS FOR OUR NEKO!!! Thank you for reading & caring about our dearly departed dog Neko.

*** PLEASE BE SURE THAT YOU ARE NOT BUYING AN PUPPY THROUGH THIS BREEDER, UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE PLAGUED WITH A LIFETIME OF HEALTH ISSUES AND POSSIBLY EARLY DEATH OF YOUR DOG.  AND ALSO HAVE THREATS MADE AGAINST YOU AND/OR YOUR FAMILY BY KEVIN!
